Tom Sinnott, strategist, shelter partnerships (Utah)
Tom Sinnott began working for Best Friends in the lifesaving center as a programs manager in August 2022, and quickly moved into the role of Strategist for the Utah Shelter Partnerships team. Tom works with shelters throughout the mountain west region to increase lifesaving capabilities and establish lifesaving programs and initiatives to help them reach no-kill by 2025.
Tom graduated from Utah State University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in sociology. His diverse background incorporates the common themes of service and support. Tom has worn many hats in his lifetime, doing everything from technical work as a mechanic, technician/trainer on microprocessor knees and ankles, to working with at risk youth and law enforcement.
Before coming to Best Friends, Tom had a career in law enforcement as a correctional officer, patrol deputy/animal control officer and as a detective.
As a young child Tom knew he wanted to two things in his life, he wanted to be a police officer and work with animals. Now that Tom has worked as a law enforcement officer, he decided to pursue his other passion which is to work with animals and give them the best possible outcome.
Tom shares his home with his family of seven, their two German Shepherds, cat, three goats and six chickens.
