Samantha Brekke, Pacific strategist

Samantha is a strategist for the Pacific region. While she has always held a passion for animals, her journey with Best Friends began in 2014 as a part-time dog walker for the Los Angeles Lifesaving Center. From there she has held a variety of different roles within Los Angeles Programs including in animal care, shelter partnerships, and team management.

Once she joined the shelter partnerships team in LA, she quickly learned how much she enjoyed working with and supporting other shelters throughout the Los Angeles area and beyond. She has completed several mentorships with shelters, coordinated lifesaving transports, and overseen medical and S/N support for rescue and shelter partners. Through all of her experiences with Best Friends, Samantha has learned how important community and working together is when it comes to lifesaving efforts. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to apply all she has learned to her current role supporting shelters across the Pacific region.

Samantha currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two cats, Wednesday and Sterling. In her free time she enjoys reading, gaming, and traveling to new places.
