Who We Are

Katie Pemberton, senior specialist, network engagement - content and social

Katie Pemberton with a puppyKatie Pemberton joined Best Friends as the Senior Specialist, Network Engagement - Content and Social, after admiring the organization and its work for 13+ years. She is an Enneagram 9w1, and lives in Memphis, TN, with her husband, their two daughters (a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old), three dogs, and one cat that was sent to her husband via the Cat Distribution System in 2014.

She has worked in marcomm/PR for 20 years, and after initially getting involved as a dogwalking volunteer, she worked in a marcomm capacity in animal shelters, both private and public, for 12 years. Her most recent role was the Marketing & Communications Supervisor at Memphis Animal Services, the municipal shelter and animal control agency in Memphis.

As an overwhelmed municipal shelter worker trying to make every idea and tactic stretch as far as possible, Katie has always found Best Friends to be an extremely valuable resource, from not only content and grant support, but also the way that Best Friends welcomes and includes municipal shelter workers. She is excited to now be a part of the team that extends that support to our Network Partners as well as other shelters and rescues.
