Allie Coronado, shelter engagement specialist
Allie Coronado is an experienced animal welfare professional specializing in shelter engagement, community outreach, and volunteer management. As a Shelter Engagement Specialist at Best Friends Animal Society, she helps shelters achieve a 90% save rate by providing hands-on support and virtual training in lifesaving programs, shelter operations, and community engagement, with a focus on pet retention, adoptions, and foster initiatives.
Allie holds a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University’s Project Dragonfly Global Field Program and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Wildlife Conservation and minor in Animal Science from Berry College. She has also completed advanced Spanish language courses through Best Friends to enhance her communication skills.
With experience as a Community Engagement Coordinator at Best Friends and leadership roles as a Primate and Carnivore Animal Care Professional at Zoo Atlanta, Allie has a strong background in animal care, enrichment, and mentoring. Born and raised in Georgia, Allie lives with her husband, three cats, and a bearded dragon. In her free time, she enjoys weightlifting, watching anime, traveling, and playing video games.
