Nick Lippincott, senior manager of lifesaving programs for Best Friends in Salt Lake City and mountain west

Nick Lippincott joined Best Friends in October of 2020 as part of the national shelter support embed program in Hawaii. From there he joined the Best Friends municipal shelter support team, helping lead assessments and working with shelters and agencies to build roadmaps for development and advancements in lifesaving.

In 2022, Nick joined the mountain west and SLC, UT programs as senior manager of lifesaving, where he leads the daily operations and relationships of the shelter partnerships, NKUT coalition, and the mountain west regional team to champion sustainable strategies and relationships focusing on helping Utah shelters and Agencies in the region achieve no-kill by 2025.

Prior to joining Best Friends, Nick began work in municipal animal shelters as an Animal Services Officer in Orlando, Florida in 2009. There he took on supervisory roles both in Field Services and as a Training and Special Programs Coordinator, focusing on sustainable program development and implementation- including the development of Orange County’s successful “Wait ‘til 8” kitten program and virtual foster/ volunteer training programs.

Nick also worked as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer with the Washington Humane Society (Humane Rescue Alliance). In this position he worked as 1 of only 4 officers investigating cases of animal cruelty within the District of Columbia. He then moved into the role of Bite Investigator with D.C. Animal Care and Control, investigating bites as well as recommending and enforcing Dangerous Dog Legislation within the District.

Nick served on the Board of Directors for the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) from 2018-2020, and currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with his wife Jessica, their dog Mahlee and cats Tycho and Chippy.
