Dr. Colleen is a dedicated veterinarian with a passion for advancing High-Quality High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) practices, improving access to veterinary care in underserved communities, and reducing pet homelessness.
Since graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Colleen has made significant contributions to animal welfare, primarily at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. At the Sanctuary, she is recognized for commitment to providing exceptional care across diverse species, including horses, farm animals, dogs, cats, birds, and wildlife. Dr. Colleen's holistic approach ensures that each animal receives tailored care to meet their unique needs while supporting Best Friend’s mission.
At Best Friends Animal Society, Dr. Colleen played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the HQHVSN Mobile Outreach Unit, demonstrating innovative approaches to addressing pet overpopulation and promoting responsible pet ownership on the Navajo Nation. Driven by a commitment to lifelong learning, she actively mentors students and industry professionals, empowering them to excel in shelter medicine and community outreach.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Colleen finds joy in exploring the outdoors with her dogs. Whether dirt biking, mountain biking, backpacking, or rock climbing, she embraces each adventure with enthusiasm and a spirit of exploration.
