Dr. Becca Boronat, veterinarian, national shelter medicine
Dr. Becca Boronat is a passionate shelter veterinarian and dedicated animal welfare professional. With an impressive track record of six impactful years as part of the No Kill South Carolina initiative, a project led by the Charleston Animal Society, Dr. Becca has recently embarked on a new chapter, joining Best Friends Animal Society as a Veterinarian with the National Shelter Medicine program.
Throughout over 20 years of experience and an international career, Dr. Becca has remained steadfast in her mission to elevate the quality of care and lifesaving efforts within animal shelters. She is driven by the unwavering belief that every animal deserves access to the five domains of animal welfare and a fulfilling life. By employing data-driven approaches and fostering a solution-oriented mindset, Dr. Becca continually develops evidence-based protocols and implements effective strategies, aiming to promote sustainable lifesaving practices nationwide.
Dr. Becca's ultimate goal is to positively impact the lives of animals in need and the dedicated individuals who care for them. She firmly believes in the power of collaboration and shared knowledge, striving to cultivate a world where animals and people thrive harmoniously side by side. In addition to her shelter medicine and operations background, Dr. Becca holds certifications as an animal control officer, animal cruelty investigator, and animal welfare administrator. She is a board member of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
