Director of Veterinary Medicine- Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter operates the public, open admissions shelter in the beautiful resort city of Palm Springs. We are looking for an energetic and compassionate Director of Veterinary Medicine who will provide leadership and quality medical care to the animals who are depending on us. This includes animals inside the shelter, in short- term and long-term foster care, as well as animals being transferred to partner shelters and rescue organizations, and animals treated in our low cost public clinics. Heartland Animal Shelter - Northbrook, IL
Medical Supervisor- Heartland Animal Shelter is seeking a full-time Medical Supervisor! Duties include evaluating the medical conditions of our resident dogs and cats and prescribing appropriate medication and treatment plans, approving animals for admission and adoption, administering medications (oral, topical, SQ, IM, IV, etc.) and vaccinations, obtaining samples and running diagnostic tests (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal floats, skin cytology, etc.) and responding to medical emergencies. Other duties include assisting in surgeries, overseeing the shelter’s foster program, and so on. Heartland is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to fill this role OR someone with at least three years of shelter medicine experience. Applicants who do not meet at least one of the above will not be considered. Professional experience with both dogs and cats is required. Applicants must be comfortable handling both species, of all sizes and temperaments. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, exceptionally organized and able to work independently. Veterinarian- Render veterinary care and treatment to animals brought to the Animal Regulation and Disease Control (ARDC) facility or to Zoo animals. Involves: Perform routine and emergency medical care. Plan, implement and administer preventive medicine program. Administer anesthesia and direct physical restraint of animals to ensure safety and minimize risk to staff and animals. Perform surgery and post-operative care. Conduct postmortem examinations. This person will live in an assigned furnished employee/animal housing unit directly on our property with up to ten (10) sanctuary dogs at any given time. The primary duties are the direct care of all sanctuary dogs and cats with special attention to the dogs in their assigned housing unit, supervising volunteers and visitors, and assisting with adoptions of the dogs and cats.
