Meryl Levy, network specialist, partner relations
Meryl would say that animals have always been the biggest part of her life. Originally from Maryland, Meryl grew up spending most of her time riding and working with horses. Before pursuing a career in animal welfare, however, she worked in the medical field for 17 years, the last 10 in an administrative supervisory/management position. Finally, she decided it was not only time for a change, but time to follow her true passion (or calling) for helping both animals and people.
In 2019, Meryl joined the volunteer engagement team at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT, which allowed her to carry over skills from her previous career. She used every opportunity to engage and educate volunteers and visitors about Best Friends’ mission, initiatives and, most importantly, about how to make an impact when they return home to their communities. One year later, she moved into the role of administrative assistant in Dogtown and soon after served as supervisor of operations and volunteer engagement.
She joined the Network team in March 2021 as network operations coordinator before stepping into her current role. Meryl is excited to bring her skills and experience into this role, along with her desire to save animals as well as support the amazing people who are devoted to doing this work. She looks forward to helping grow the Best Friends Network and expand its reach to shelters and rescue groups throughout the country.
Meryl currently lives in Colorado with her husband, four dogs and a cat. In her free time, she can be found helping at the local animal shelter, playing with her dogs, and exploring the amazing area that her family now calls home.
