Meryl Levymeryll@bestfriends.org

Originally from Maryland, Meryl grew up spending most of her time riding and working with horses and has always had a passion for helping animals. Before pursuing a career in animal welfare, she worked in the medical field for 17 years, the last 10 with a focus on administrative operations management.

Meryl joined the volunteer engagement team at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT, in 2019. She used every opportunity to engage and educate volunteers and visitors about Best Friends’ mission, initiatives and, most importantly, about how to make an impact when they return home to their communities. One year later, she moved into the role of administrative assistant in Dogtown and soon after served as supervisor of operations and volunteer engagement.

She joined the Network team in March 2021 as network operations coordinator before stepping into her current role. Meryl brings her skills and experience into this role, along with a strong desire to save animals and to support the amazing people who are dedicated to doing this work. With a focus on partner management and engagement, she prides herself on building relationships as she works to support the growing Network and to help expand its reach to shelters, rescue groups, and support organizations throughout the country.

Meryl currently lives in Oregon with her husband, four dogs and a cat. In her free time, she can be found playing with her dogs, and exploring the amazing area that her family calls home.
