Kristen Eastman, senior specialist, copywriting and communications

Kristen Eastman is the Senior Specialist, Copywriting and Communications. Kristen says she feels amazing to have lucked into a position that combines so many of her passions! She says it’s an honor to write about all the lifesaving going on through Best Friends, its network partners and knows there is much more to come! She is excited to be part of No Kill 2025 and has been an animal lover since she was a toddler. Both cats AND dogs. And more. 

Kristen has a background in newspaper writing/reporting, has been a Spokesperson for a Texas State Agency, and spent a decade with another national animal group in Washington D.C. Most recently, she drafted and implemented a then-new wildlife training program for the City of Austin, worked a few years in Corporate America, and spent time giving back by teaching English/writing during a local teacher shortage. Kristen says it is truly returning to her career home by using her communications skill sets to assist all those who help animals, and the many ways they all help each other.

Kristen has been a shelter volunteer in the four states where she’s lived, an adoption counselor, and a rescue group volunteer. In her off time, she can be found curled up with her two rescue kitties and a good book or doting on her five nieces and nephews.
