Jen Adkins, Shelter Partnerships Strategist, Utah

Jen AdkinsJennifer Adkins began her career in animal welfare working as an animal care attendant at the Idaho Humane Society (IHS) in 2013. Jen wore many hats during her years at IHS, from veterinary assistant to community cat program coordinator. These experiences gave her a unique perspective that she brought to Best Friends Animal Society, where she currently works as a strategist. Jen’s advocacy for lifesaving is coupled with a strong respect for, and a drive to strengthen, the human-animal bond in shelters and communities across the country. Her current position focuses on lifesaving opportunities in the state of Utah. She loves that her position connects her with shelter staff to provide customized and impactful training and support in lifesaving programming that improves not only the animals’ lives, but the lives of shelter staff and their community members.

Jen also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for West Valley Humane Society in Caldwell, Idaho. In her personal life, Jen enjoys her time with her husband John and their son Jack, and their clowder of cats.
