Registered Veterinary Technician- Small but fast-paced animal shelter in Santa Paula, CA is looking to add full- and part-time Registered Vet Techs to join our close-knit and team-oriented shelter staff. We are looking for flexible, organized communicators to take our team to the next level! Our veterinary clinic provides services to both the shelter and our community. We perform high volume spay/neuter services weekly as well as host guest surgeons who utilize our facility. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: scheduling and performing veterinary examinations and rechecks, maintaining statistics in PetPoint database, obtaining animal histories and overseeing veterinary treatment of shelter animals by animal care staff, fosters and volunteers, communicating all findings to veterinarian, prepping for surgery, performing dental procedures, assuming primary responsibility for scheduling of animals for veterinary examinations and rechecks and maintaining statistics, maintaining veterinary supplies, oversee and train Vet Assistants and maintain organized inventory of supplies and uphold sanitary standards, maintaining Controlled Drug Logs, under supervision of veterinarian, create and maintain reference documentation, and track and report costs. Animal Rescue Foster Manager- Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, Inc. (AAUPR) is seeking a full time Foster Manager to add to the staff of our amazing rescue. Surgery Technician- The Surgery Technician is responsible for the operation of the surgical suite and ensuring all shelter and community animals are humanely cared for throughout the surgery process. This position provides guidance and direction for the day to day operation of the surgery room to the surgery Veterinary Technicians and Assistants and ensures that all medical protocols established by the Veterinary Medical Director and Lead Surgical Veterinarian are properly followed and implemented. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the veterinarian with pre-surgery examinations, administering vaccinations, performing blood draws, administering anesthesia, medications, patient surgical preparation, and recovery. Responsibilities include: daily guidance and direction, for the day to day operation of the surgery room, to the surgery technicians and assistants handling all animals needing spay/neuter surgery or surgery for other medical conditions, ensuring the surgery schedule is at its full capacity each day and for providing surgery to, in priority order: adoptable animals, community cats, animals being transferred to rescue partners and public pets, assists the veterinarian with surgical preparation, induction, anesthesia, and recovery, administers medications and treatments, performing blood draws, scanning and microchipping, and vaccinating as directed by the surgical veterinarian, ensuring the humane treatment of animals at the shelter at all times, set up animals in appropriate housing with proper supplies, food, litter, water, enrichment, and signage, works closely with Veterinarian to assure that all animals are receiving proper medical care and are housed and cared for humanely, maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment, monitoring and maintaining proper care and usage of surgery supplies and equipment, performs humane euthanasia on animals as necessary in accordance with established policies and procedures set by the Veterinary Medical Director, effective communication of shelter policies, practices, and procedures to employees, volunteers, and the general public, clear and accurate data entry and signage for proper communication within the surgery room and for post/pre op animals in the shelter, prepares medical records and ensures adopters, fosters, caregivers, and pet owners are provided clear post-operative care instructions, working with the Surgical Manager to ensure accurate tracking and handling of controlled substances and maintaining drug logs in accordance with veterinary and state laws, working with the Surgical Manager, as needed, to recruit surgical Veterinarians and maintain those relationships while appropriately staffing the surgical suite to achieve maximum spay/neuter goals, and performs related work as required.
