FAQs for Participants Not Using Adopets

GENERAL

Are there any incentives for participating in this event?

  • We are hard at work securing some awesome incentives for both participating groups and adopters. Be sure to keep an eye on your email and the Best Friends Network Partners Facebook group for an announcement soon. We’ll also post any available incentives on the event landing page.

Do we have to use the Adopets software for the event?

  • No, you do not have to use Adopets to participate in this event. If you choose not to use Adopets to feature your adoptables, your organization’s name and URL will only be listed on the Participating Organizations page, which can be accessed from the Virtual Super Adoption’s central landing page hosted by Adopets. Only animals from organizations that participate in the event using Adopets will appear in the search results on the central landing page. To see animals from other organizations, an adopter will need to click through to the Participating Organizations page. On that page, an organization’s name and website are listed by state. Please note that incentives around adoption fees are only available to groups that participate via Adopets.

What are the hours of the event?

  • The event will run from May 27 to May 31, but there are no specific hours that the event will be “open”. Adopters will be able to come to the event page (bestfriends.adopets.com) to search for pets and submit applications 24/7 during the five-day event, but it’s completely up to your organization when you want to have your team “online” to respond to inquiries and process adoptions.

Do we have to participate all five days?

  • Adopters will be able to search for pets and submit applications during the entire five-day period of the event, so we recommend participating for all five days to maximize your opportunity to get as many pets adopted as you can.

Can we include foster pets?

  • Absolutely! We encourage you to include both pets in foster homes and pets in your shelter to be included in this event.

Can we still do in-person meets with animals if we want?

  • Yes, you can choose if you want to do virtual or in-person meets with your pets.

Are we required to transport animals to adopters?

  • It's completely up to your organization whether you want to transport animals to adopters or require that adopters pick their adopted animals up. If you decide to require that adopters pick their adopted animals up, you can include a disclaimer that states this upfront. Additionally, you can decide to only display animals that are within a set radius from you, and not display the available animals to people outside of that area.

We require that pets being adopted out of state are spayed or neutered, and not all of our pets are altered yet. Is there a way to only show altered pets during this event?

  • This depends on the shelter software you are using and the statuses that you decide to display based on the integration. This is doable at a general level, but it might change on a case-by-case basis.

FOR PARTICIPANTS USING ADOPETS

Do we need to have a representative from our organization showcasing our pets?

  • No, you will not need to have someone presenting adoptable pets. The event is set up so that you’ll be able to pull your animal’s pictures and biographies directly into Adopets to appear on our event page.

How will our animals be showcased on Adopets?

  • Animals will be showcased first by location (those nearest to the adopter will appear first). The adopter will also be able to narrow their search by animal type (dog/cat), breed, gender, age and size. The search page will have an image of each pet with a name and the size, and adopters can click on the image for more information and pictures about that specific pet.

How do I get in touch with Adopets customer support?

  • Option 1: Live chat with support is available on the lower right corner of every page (look for the pink icon with a smile).
  • Option 2: Our help center is available at help.adopets.com.
  • Option 3: Email us at support@adopets.com

Is Adopets training is available?

  • Option 1: A recording of the training is available HERE. Note: It starts at 1 minute 30 seconds on the time counter.
  • Option 2: Live trainings are being held:

Will we be able to limit adopters to only local applicants?

  • The first step for adopters when they come to the event page is to type in their ZIP code, and they will be shown animals nearest to them. You’ll have discretion to approve or deny any applications that come in, as well as designate a radius for how far you are willing to adopt an animal out to.

How will potential adopters get in touch with us?

  • Adopters will submit an application if they are interested in one of your pets. You’ll get a notification on your end that an application has been submitted, and you’ll have the ability to review it. If you decided to move forward, you’ll be able to use the scheduling feature within Adopets to find a time to connect with the potential adopter. You’ll also take payment and schedule pick up for the animal within Adopets as well. The entire conversation from start to finish will all be in one convenient place for you and your team to access.

Can we set our own adoption fees?

  • Yes, you have the ability to customize the adoption fee. You also can change the adoption fee at the point of adoption if you want to add a discount or fee-waive that particular animal.

Do we need to report to Best Friends our final adoption numbers at the end of the event?

  • Yes, in order to be considered for campaign awards, you will need to report your final adoption numbers at the conclusion of the event. More details coming soon about reporting!
