Tracy Miller, Mountain West strategist
One of two Mountain West strategists, Tracy was most recently the No-kill Utah (NKUT) Coalition Specialist for Best Friends – Utah overseeing partner animal welfare organizations across the state and managing their efforts to help all Utah communities become no-kill. Using one-on-one consultations, educational events, networking, transports and grant opportunities, she worked to build the capacity of our partners as we worked toward our no-kill goal. Tracy is now excited to use these skills to engage with our partners in the Mountain West region with an eye toward no-kill 2025.
Since leaving the corporate world in 2000, Tracy has worked within the nonprofit community for more than 19 years, 15 of which have been with Best Friends Animal Society. The skills she has built over the years that help her succeed in her role are volunteer management, fundraising, board engagement, budget oversight, grant administration, adoption best practices, marketing, brand awareness, conflict resolution and event planning.
Originally from Hollydale, California, Tracy earned her bachelor’s degree in speech communication from California State University, Long Beach. Most recently, through Southern Utah University, Tracy earned an Institutional Certificate of Principles of Contemporary Animal Services. She currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, with her Boston Terrier, BB.
