Meryl Levy, network operations coordinator
Animals have always been the biggest part of my life. Originally from Maryland, I grew up spending most of my time riding and working with horses. Before pursuing a career in animal welfare, I worked in the medical field for 17 years, the last 10 in a supervisory/management position. I eventually decided it was time for a change and joined Best Friends in 2019.
My first role was on the Volunteer Engagement Team at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. Carrying over my supervisory and management skills from my previous career, I worked with individual volunteers and groups of volunteers. I used every opportunity to engage and educate them about Best Friends’ mission, initiatives and, most importantly, on how to make an impact when they return home to their communities. One year later, l moved into the role of administrative assistant in Dogtown and most recently served as supervisor of operations and volunteer engagement.
I am excited to bring my skills and experience with me into my current role as network operations coordinator, along with my desire to save animals, and support the amazing people who are devoted to doing this work. I look forward to helping grow the Best Friends Network and expanding our reach to shelters and rescue groups throughout the country.
I currently live in Arizona with my husband, four dogs and a cat.
