While it is sad that animal rescuers finance Haven's retirement it is a better solution than having the dogs end up in an auction. All the luck to the Humane Society in finding good homes. It's good to know there's one large puppy mill less.

The New York Times did a lengthy cover story on this puppy mill in the February 4th, 2007, Times Magazine The article stated this "kennel" sold 3,000 dogs anuually and was in business for 30 years.

Haven's must have decided to take what he could get before he was shut down, and before he became the subject of more news articles. I'm sorry the dogs are financing his retirement, but I quess whatever it takes to shut these places down has to be considered.
