This has been a tough spring for thousands of people affected by heavy storms and flooding in areas of Indiana, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and other parts of the Midwest, as well as our own state. It's been tough for their animals as well. When people lose their homes to floodwaters, so do their pets and livestock.
By Reade AdamsThe Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) s working hard to help. The organization recently took in 40 dogs from Indiana, when there was no more space left in that state's shelters, and it is contributing much-needed supplies for hundreds of rescued cats in Cedar Rapids, to be picked up and transported there on July 3 by Petsmart Rescue Waggin'.
The Cedar Rapids cats are being sheltered in horse stalls at present. The WHS is asking for contributions of box fans to "help cool the animals and reduce disease transmission."
You can help by donating "new or gently used working fans" to the WHS, located at 4500 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee. Please drop off fans by Thursday, July 3, in time for the Petsmart Rescue Waggin' pick-up.
