Home for Life® is a "long-term" animal sanctuary located along the Apple River in Wisconsin.
A recent article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel highlighted the sanctuary, which is home to unwanted or otherwise unadoptable animals. Animals here are typically old or handicapped; many times requiring a significant amount of care. Home for Life® serves as a final home for mainly cats, dogs, rabbits and birds; where they live in compatible groups in a “no cage” environment.
Twenty employees attend to the needs of the animals each day, making sure they are fed and exercised. Some of the animals require physical therapy and medication. All will live in a safe and encouraging environment where they can enjoy the remainder of their lives.
Several hundred volunteers work with the sanctuary to provide a service to both the animals and the community by participation in local therapy animal visits to senior centers, hospitals and much more.
