Changes Due In Seattle’s Animal Shelters

In early April 2008, the city of Seattle made some great commitments to the city's homeless animals.

As of April 10, 2008, Seattle local government has made a commitment to improve and even build new animal shelters. They plan on spending one million dollars this year alone.
They are taking emergency steps to improve local shelters; building new dog kennels and cat runs. They plan on reducing the number of animals killed by fifteen per cent. Expanding low-cost spay-neuter clinics/hospitals is also part of their vision. But these are short-term fixes. One of the plans in the upcoming year is to build a new, modern shelter for Seattle’s animals.
The idea behind this movement is the realization by local government that animals are not disposable, they are breathing, living creatures and deserve the best lives possible.
Hopefully, they will stand behind their words. More to follow.
