Special puppy seeking foster home

February 16, 2008 : 9:57 PM
A puppy born without use of her back legs deserves chance at a better life.

Daisy Mae is a 9 month old Lab with cerebellar ataxia; she lacks coordination in her hind legs . She had been dumped in a very rural area and was lucky to be found by a caring person. This sweet girl hasn't let her disability affect her quality of life--she can still run, swim, and play with the best of 'em! She is extremely good-natured and gets along well with cats and other dogs, but children are her favorite. She has a few special needs. Her new home must have a secure fenced yard, carpeted floors (no hardwood), and a guardian who is home at least half of the day.

She is a healthy, happy, intelligent, energetic and a
sweet pup who is completely house-trained and crate-trained. Daisy weighs 35 lbs. to date, and it is anticipated that she will not be very much larger.

Her only problem (although she would never admit it a problem since she was born with it) is cerebellar ataxia. Big words - which just mean that she has a lack of coordination in her hind legs. Daisy has been seen by a Neurologist and had thorough testing and she can lead a normal, happy life.

Daisy loves to fetch (not always a direct route), eat apples that have fallen from the tree, play outside, and swim. She took hydrotherapy and loved it. She can swim with the best of em!

She absolutely loves any and all creatures that are alive and interact with her! People, kids, dogs, cats ----- if it is alive she loves it! She has no aggressions of any kind and is so sweet natured .

Daisy has been in foster care for the past 8 months while she was getting her medical tests completed and her cart, but now she really wants (and needs) a home and family of her own.

Daisy's ideal home would be with a family where someone is home at least half of the day, and she would have a brother or sister doggie to play with. Kids to play with would be a terrific bonus also. She absolutely needs to have a secure fenced in yard. Due to her balance problem she needs a safe place to play where she won't get into any situations she cannot get out of. In the house she needs carpet to walk on (no hardwood floors) in order to keep her footing and traction.
There is no doubt that Daisy is a commitment and isn't your average companion. She probably will never be able to go on long hikes with you, but she will be able to take walks with you, go swimming with you and play fetch with you. If attitude counts for anything this little lady deserves a ten (10) on the scale. Because she doesn't let anything get her down. And she has so very, very much love to give!

DVD’S FOR DAISY!!!!!

Now collecting dvd’s, video’s, cd’s and current books for our entertainment sale. Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised the funds for her medical testing. Now we are in need of funds for her physical therapy and boarding expenses.

Friday Feb 29th and Sat March 1st we will have a fun sale. Skip Hollywood video that night and stop by to buy a movie (cheaper than rentals) and some home made goodies to munch on.

Look through your collection of movies and books and see if there are any you could donate for her!! Donations can be dropped off at Pet Pleasers. 800 164th St SE Mill Creek Wa 98012.

Daisy just underwent an MRI & spinal tap on 2/18. She is having some problems & we want to ascertain she has the best quality of life she can. These were both extremely expensive & donations to her medical expenses would be most helpful. Donation information is at the bottom of the article. Thank you!
