I first visited Best Friends back in 1999 when I was on vacation from Scotland. On my visit I spent some time at Old Friends, Cats and Angels Rest. On my return to Scotland I raved about Best Friends to my friends & family.I moved to the States in 2002 and lived in Ohio until the summer of 2004. At that time I was selling Suzuki motorcycles & ATV’s but I had decided to return back to my trade as Ornamental Blacksmith and had a job lined up in California. I packed my van with all of my worldly possessions and loaded my motorcycle onto my trailer and headed off into the sunset. Road tripping across the States I had a number of places I wanted to visit on my way to California, Best Friends was one of the places I was planning on visiting!On my return to Best Friends and the local area I felt what I had experienced all those years ago and decided to see if I could stay a while. I began my two week evaluation as a Caregiver in Dogtown. I was successful with my two week evaluation and proudly accepted the position as Caregiver at Old Friends in Dogtown Heights. In December 2004 I was promoted to Team Leader for Personnel in Dogtown. I would oversee the selection and recruitment of staff in Dogtown, along with Dogtown Aesthetics and Dogtown maintenance and I would deal with daily Personnel tasks. I worked closely with Michelle Besmehn Dog Care Manager. Together Michelle and I were responsible for the Management of Dogtown.In July of 2006 I accepted a new role and moved to the Maintenance Department and was responsible for Maintenance Quality & Customer Satisfaction.In April 2007 I was proud to become the Maintenance Manager. With a great team we complete a variety of maintenance requests and projects.I organized the 2006 Bikers For Best Friends Poker Run with Zion Harley Davidson and manage the Bikers For Best Friends Network Community site. Planning of the 2007 Bikers For Best Friends event is currently taking place and we're going bigger this year by making it a national event. I personally envisage this being the largest event ever of Bikers showing their kindness towards animalsSince being at Best Friends I have experienced many changes and looking forward to see where Best Friends is heading in the future.
