Great News About Doran!

Cathy the wonderful volunteer and Doran's very own Angel sent these letters to me today. I couldn't wait to share the good news.

Hi Randi,

Here's the latest update. Delores will send his x-rays and record to the vet that Beth Gruff takes her dogs to. This is a vet that Delores also works with in San Diego so she's really pleased with the choice of vet.

As soon as she gets an estimated cost, she will give it to me. She did not give me the estimate that the specialist that they took Doran to gave them.

I just got a call from Ruff Rescue asking how much they should donate. Another volunteer at the shelter who also adores Doran came up to me and told me she works for the city and will also help with raising the money for his surgery. Animal Assistance League of Orange County will donate some money as will Best Friends. I'll have something to give American Humane, Pit Bull Rescue Central and Badrap as soon as I have a quote. I am also thinking of going to the Petsmart charities to ask for money.

Doran was in great spirit tonight! he was smiling and being his wonderfully adorable self. It was great to see the staff members and the volunteers who love him smile and be happy for the first time in a very long while now. They all felt relief that they don't have to mourn his loss. Doran was in the yard with me for a while before I took him out for his walk. He also loves every dog there in the shelter, he wants to play with every one of them!

Thank you, Randi for giving me the inspiration and strength to fight to save Doran. There were times when I thought "uh oh... what will I do now??? I will fail him!" but you and the others who are involved in helping got me through and now because of all that - Doran's life is saved:) Doran wanted me to let you know how grateful he is to have you as one of his champions! He received your kiss with the utmost graciousness:)

Last night was the first night I was able to sleep soundly. I woke up feeling like a weight has been lifted.

Please post my email. And please let Karol know that Doran is grateful and that once I get the quote from Delores, I will send a copy to you so you can post on The Pit Stop. I think I will ask Beth Gruff (the lady who will be taking care of Doran) to accept the money since he will be in San Diego and in the care of her vet.

:) Without your help and support and members like Karol, I don't think Doran would be up and having his breakfast right about now at the shelter.
