Book Review by Christy Crabtree

As the holiday season opens, thousands of parents will be subject to the begging of their children to make an adorable animal part of their family. In the spirit of this upcoming begging, we’d like to offer our review of the thought-provoking and fantastic book, My Recycled Pets: Diary of a Dog Addict by Randi Berger.

Go along for the ride as Berger recounts her journey of rescuing dogs through Recycled Pets, her pet rescue charity. Beginning with her childhood, My Recycled Pets chronicles the dedication of one woman to save the animals thrown out by society and how in turn those animals become angels, blessings and diamonds in the rough.

A California native, Berger is one of kind with a quick wit and uncanny ability to get right to the point. Each story reinforces why it is so important to adopt and how rescuing can be one of the most rewarding experiences life has to offer.

Due to pet overpopulation, neglect and abandonment there are many loving animals without families. This poignant book offers readers the insiders look at rescuing and how through the efforts of one single person, thousands of lives can be saved.

You will experience miracles along side the author that are sure to change your own life in some way. You will also see how miracles are behind every turn in life. Every twist and turn of Ms. Berger's journey proves to deepen her life's purpose and causes us to reflect on our own life. This book is a must buy!

About the Author
Randi Berger is the founder of Recycled Pets Rescue, an all volunteer rescue which has saved the lives of more than 10,000 dogs and is celebrating its 20 year anniversary this year. She is a graduate of California State University at Northridge with a degree in Psychology and Theatre. Determined to save as many unwanted dogs as possible, Berger launched one of the most respected, private, cageless animal rescue organizations in Southern California. She also developed a unique concept that was unheard of in her area at that time – holding open house dog adoptions at popular local attractions.

Berger also found herself learning many of the technical veterinary procedures that the animals required for proper care. While helping abused dogs overcome their fears, Berger fell into a successful career of training dogs and cats for movie work as well as for obedience training. My Recycled Pets: Diary of a Dog Addict received a Writer’s Digest Inspirational Award. (Paperback: 216 pages, Publisher: Book Publishers Network,August 2007, Dimensions: 8.8 x 6 x 0.6 inches)
