The SPCA of Texas Announces DFW PetNet
Provided courtesy of the SPCA of TexasIf you’ve ever lost your pet, you’ve felt the heartbreak, the helplessness, the fear of what dangers lie in wait for a little pet all alone in a big world. To be a helping hand in such a time of need, the SPCA of Texas is proud to announce the arrival of DFW PetNet, a newly energized
SPCA of Texas program dedicated to reuniting lost pets with their families.
Here’s how DFW PetNet works: people who have either lost or found pets may visit
DFW PetNet any time, day or night, and post a photo and a description of the lost or found pet. These lost and found pets will be posted online, and will be available for all to see 24 hours a day.
But the SPCA of Texas goes the extra mile. Once a lost or found pet is posted to our DFW PetNet site, our Community Relations department will begin the process of helping find the lost pet or the rightful family of the pet that has been found.
The SPCA of Texas is able to match these lost and found pets with their loving families by partnering with other animal organizations and caring citizens across the Metroplex to comb through records and postings of lost and found pets.
Information is updated around the clock and provides a convenient way to track and attempt to locate lost pets. The goal of DFW PetNet is to make a difference in pets’ and people’s lives by helping pets find their way home instead of ending up in shelters, or worse, living on the streets as strays.
History of DFW PetNetThis concept isn’t entirely new to the SPCA of Texas. In fact, the original program of this type, a lost and found program also called PetNet, began operating in May 1988. It was a computerized trace and match system that enabled owners to find their lost pets more quickly and easily than searching their neighborhood streets on foot.
In 1990, the SPCA of Texas began using an easier to navigate phone messaging system for lost and found pets called the Lost and Found Hotline. In 2004, this phone messaging system became an email hotline.
Then, in October of 2006, the SPCA of Texas announced the Lost and Found ePole, an online service that allowed people to post photos and descriptions of lost and found pets online.
In the winter of 2007, the SPCA of Texas decided to go even further with the E-Pole. DFW PetNet is now the program you see today. This program is currently being funded by Robert L. “Skip” Trimble, Executive Vice President of Catlyn Capital Corporation. His love and devotion for animals is well known by his family, friends, and peers.
