Horrific GROUNDHOG SHOOT Scheduled for Saturday, June 21, Lancaster County, PA

June 20, 2008 : 1:33 PM
NPPMWatch has received information concerning a mass groundhog shoot that's scheduled to take place this Saturday, June 21.

From NPPMWatch

The event: '1st Annual Elstonville Hunting Club Groundhog Blitz' is being hosted by the same club that was cited last year for tying turkeys to bales of hay and shooting them with arrows. This WAS considered animal cruelty and the case WAS prosecuted. To the best of our knowledge, the final monetary penalty assessed was a mere $400.00.

Information about the club may be found here: http://www.elstonville.com/community.htm

Here's what we know:

The event is scheduled for all day on Saturday, June 21, rain or shine, at Kinsey's Outdoors in Mount Joy, PA
http://www.kinseysoutdoors.com/

Hunters may kill as many groundhogs as they can - prizes are given for most killed, biggest, etc.

Unfortunately, the Lancaster newspaper is not interested in reporting this as a story because they believe it to be perfectly legal... while that may or may not be a fact, the event remains horrific and the flyer describing the event is nauseating.

We currently have a copy of the flyer being distributed by the Elstonville Hunting Club. If you would like a copy of it for additional information, please contact NPPMWATCH at nppmwatch@hotmail.com, with your fax number and it will be transmitted promptly.
