A Plea for the Puppies

Puppies are again overwhelming the Saving Gaffney Pets Rescue in Gaffney, SC.

Pups are being dropped off at the local shelter in record numbers for a second time this year. Mary Carpenter, who is running Saving Gaffney Pets Rescue, has been trying to save these puppies and is doing this with the help of only 3 other volunteers. One of the volunteers is fostering 20+ puppies for Mary.

When I spoke with Mary yesterday she sounded completely at the end of her rope. The rescue is out of funds to care for the older dogs as well, most of who are currently in boarding facilities. The two she is extremely worried about are on the website, Gina and Ruby. They have been delightful Pit Bulls with excellent temperaments but, the boarding facility, which is also a Veterinarians Office, now needs the space for other dogs with medical needs. There is no where for these dogs to go at this point and the only option will be to euthanize them. Since Mary is out of funds, she can no longer keep boarding any future animals at this point.

If you feel you can help financially, sponsorship of a dog or puppy is available through Paypal to SavingGaffneyPet@yahoo.com. Sponsoring needs are $8.50 per day, per dog to board dogs waiting for transport; $100.00 per dog/puppy, for full vetting and health certificate. Mary usually does her own vaccinations and the costs are expensive but, currently she is out of all supplies for vaccinations at this point.

Please consider helping Saving Gaffney Pets in any way you can. Mary and her volunteers are a hardworking and dedicated group who really need a helping hand. If you look at their petfinder listing for the available dogs/puppies, you will see some adorable little faces which need either a loving family to adopt them or, a rescue who can help find them a home.
