Dogs and Cancer

June 2, 2008 : 2:49 PM
You can help those who cannot afford their best friend's cancer treatments.

By Beth Marzo, Best Friends Network Volunteer

ANNOUNCING:
The Dog Cancer Ride Across America – A Charity Fundraiser to Promote Dog Cancer Awareness and Help Sick Dogs get the Cancer Care they Deserve...

Ted Schneck runs a dog cancer care website and has written a book entitled “Curing Canine Cancer”. Ted is all too aware of the desperation many people face when their dogs need costly cancer treatments. Like most of us, these dogs are treasured members of the family. The stress of your best friend being seriously ill and the worry about how to afford treatments is overwhelming. Many people simply cannot afford to get their innocent pets the care they so desperately need and the chance they so lovingly deserve.

Anyone who has experienced serious illness in their pets knows the emotional toll the illness takes on pet parents. How would you feel watching your beloved dog die and be unable to afford the treatments he needs in order to save him? While this is difficult for most of us, some simply cannot financially handle it.

This summer Ted will be riding his bicycle across America, over 4,281 miles in over 82 days. His purpose is to promote dog cancer awareness and raise money. Money raised will go to 3 wonderful charities that help dog owners pay for dog cancer care they couldn’t otherwise afford. Your tax deductible donation to the “Dog Cancer Ride Across America” would support 3 wonderful dog cancer charities:
1. The “Canine Cancer Awareness Fund”
2. The “Magic Bullet Fund”
3. The brand new “Marty Miracle Fund” (in honor of Ted’s dog Marty)

Please take a moment and check out the “Dog Cancer Ride Across America” website. You will learn a great deal on this wonderful website about dogs and cancer. You can also visit the “Map of Heroes” where you can add your personal tribute to your very own DOG CANCER HERO!

Any amount you can give will be a tremendous help in this effort to help dog cancer heroes fight this disease.

Thank you for caring.

As someone who has lost a precious dog and two kitties to cancer in the last couple of years, I can't thank Ted enough for raising money and making such a huge effort to help our canine cancer victims. Thank you so much!

Now we need a FeLV cat cancer ride! Cats are well known to get sarcomas from over vaccination also. Kudos to you Ted for your dedication!
