Troy Lea, specialist
I've been with Best Friends since October 1999. In July of 1999, I visited Best Friends for the very first time. I had set up a lunch date with Best Friends co-founder Faith Maloney to hear about all the wonderful things Best Friends was doing. As I was falling more and more in love with the Sanctuary and the people, Faith offered me a job! Over the next two months I gave notice at my previous job, bought a house in Kanab and never looked back.
Being an animal lover since I was a child, I always found myself drawn to pets with special needs. I have a fierce passion for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) education and have had the pleasure of loving many FIV-positive cats over the years. At this time I share my home with eight cats, six of them with special needs, all of them deeply loved.
I've been lucky enough to watch this wonderful department grow and change over the years. We have a strong, amazing team and I'm proud to be a part of Best Friends and the mission to Save Them All.
