150 Canadian Geese Scheduled to be be gassed in New York- Your help is needed!

The story about the geese is upsetting. There is so much pain in this world and we as humans are the ones inficting it on each other and on animal life. God put us as custodians to the animal kingdom and we have abused this gift. It has become a very sad world to live in.

I am part of the group defending these geese in Scotia...all pleas and information provided to the town officials has fallen on deaf ears. They refuse to try non-lethal methods and refuse to allow anyone to transport them to safety.

They say it's unlawful for us to transport the geese? But yet it's lawful to transport to gas them and bury them? What's wrong with this picture?

This is US Dept of the Interior, Dept. of Fish and Wildlife permits to carry out these killings. There is absolutely no proof the E.coli in the lake is from the geese...the geese are but scapegoats.

Please call/write and let these people know you won't stand for this killing.

This world has become such a sad, mean world. That a wonderful town like that to wantonly murder these magnificent creatures is madness! I urge everyone to boycott travel and tourism.

It is appalling that some wild animals are considered throwaway, like geese and deer and even rats. It is not a human's right to decide which animals are not worthy of existance. It is our duty as humans to live in harmony with our environment.
Gassing geese, I just can't digest the inhumanity.
I can't even begin to explain this to my 5 year old daughter.
Please help this horrible and callous disregard for life.

It would seem that killing is unnecessary, if someone at the Town Park Board and Town Board of Trustees would care to dig a little deeper to identify a host who could relocate these creatures. Gratutitous killing of life is tragic, especially when the cause of suffering is inflicted by a so-called "higher species." Moreover, gassing will not solve the problem, as more geese will find their way to Scotia for the same reason: food and shelter on their migration path. Since the geese like Scotia, perhaps the Park Board should show a little of their human intelligence and examine the cause attracting them there, and either eliminate it (and not the geese), or actually welcome the geese to their town by creating a wildlife sanctuary or other "safe haven" that draws them from the park and allows them to co-exist with humans.

My wife and I first became aware of this situation on Sunday, 5/14. Scotia is about 10 miles west of Albany, NY. Anyone familiar with Canadian Geese know that they are docile creatures who usually interact with humans very peacefully. The thought of gassing them is not an option. I am not familiar with safe, alternative methods to get the Geese to move elsewhere. Some of you must have some viable suggestions on how to solve this problem so the Geese find a new home without being injured or killed. And, if we end up having to physically move each and every Goose, what is the best way to do this and are there any special permits, etc. needed before we commence. Does anyone have experience with a situation like this ??? The clock is ticking for these precious creatures.....
