Have A Heart for Chained Dogs

Sponsor a Valentine for a Chained Dog or Penned Dog!

Join Dogs Deserve Better February 7-14th for Have a Heart for Chained Dogs Week. OUR GOAL in our 5th Season is to SEND OUT 8000 VALENTINES TO CHAINED or PENNED DOGS.

We are striving to raise awareness for chained and penned dogs in a positive way...by delivering Valentines, a brochure and a treat coupon to dogs living outside all over the U.S. and into other countries where we have representation, such as Canada and Australia.

Here's what we need:

1. Make Valentines. Teachers, Students, Scout Leaders, Group Leaders, Individuals please make Valentines! To see what others have done, visit our website.

The valentines can say anything along the lines of 'Bring us into the home and family.'

Please send them in by February 5th to P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684.

2. Mail Coupons for Free Treats. This year we’d like to receive coupons for free or low cost treats to mail to the dogs...if you have any, please mail them to us.

3. Send addresses for Chained or PennedDogs. This is so needed! To make our goal, we need to mail at least 8000 Valentines.

Send address via mail, call 877.636.1408 to report addresses, or e-mail them to info@dogsdeservebetter.org. You remain anonymous!

4. Sponsor Valentines. The cost of this campaign is quite high, due to material and mailing fees, but it is well-worth it! You may either sponsor Valentines for addresses you provide, or sponsor Valentines for others who provide us with addresses.

In 2006 we delivered over 4500 Valentines to chained or penned dogs. Tammy S. Grimes, founder of Dogs Deserve Better, states, “We were thrilled in 2006 to see an incredible response to our plea. Some students were so motivated that they actually made multiple cards! By participating in this program, many of the children felt like they were helping others instead of always being on the receiving end. This helped tremendously to boost their self-esteem. The students and groups gain a sense of accomplishment from creating for the dogs, and our hope is that more and more dog caretakers are educated as a result of the children’s efforts.”

Valentines and coupons are needed at the Dogs Deserve Better headquarters in Tipton, PA by February 7th. E-mail info@dogsdeservebetter.org, or call 814.941.7447 for further details.

If you sponsor a Valentine for a Chained or Penned Dog during this time, we will do one of two things: Mail a valentine, brochure and treat coupon out to a chained or penned dog of your choice, please provide the address in the message area; or, mail and/or hand deliver to another dog who needs a Valentine and treats. We would also be thrilled to have volunteers in other areas who would deliver some to chained dogs.

All valentines will be sent anonymously, unless you specifically ask for your first or full name to be included. And any information that is sent out with the valentine will include only the name of the Dogs Deserve Better organization. Therefore, any information you give us is strictly confidential, unless you direct otherwise.
