I am quite proud to say that I am a 3rd generation rescuer as my mother and grandmother before me. I grew up with a love of all animals and had the honor of sharing my childhood with many including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, horses, goats, chickens, and rabbits. We even had a coyote and gopher. I was taught to respect and love nature in all its forms and to mourn when the creatures of this world crossed the Rainbow Bridge whether they were a family member or one lost on the side of the road with no home.I discovered BF a few weeks after my cat, Tamaya, crossed the Rainbow Bridge just short of her 19th Birthday in 2006. I hadn't been doing much rescue for a number of years and then Katrina struck and reminded me of my roots. While I didn't go to New Orleans or the other storm damaged areas, I did help with collecting supplies. Afterwards, my heart told me what I had to do and I found a feral cat rescue to volunteer for. I now with Colony Cats and Shelter Outreach Services of Ohio. It is some of the hardest but most rewarding rescue work I have ever done. I am also a volunteer news writer for the Ohio Community on the Best Friends Network.Today I share my home with my husband of over 12 years, Charles and our cat, Keiko, who was adopted from Cozy Cat Cottage.
