Live in Texas with Husband, 3 dogs (Milford, Murphy & Gracie), two indoor cats (Marvin & Gidget) and two friendly front porch stray kitties (Keane & Quinn). Travel frequently around Texas with my work and fortunately take Gracie, the lab mix, along with me. She usually gets to spend her days in doggie daycare where ever we go while I am working. I drive a Honda Element that supports my travel & animal/outdoor lifestyle of biking (with Gracie and/or Murphy), kayaking (with Murphy or Gracie), camping, dog parking, and just general jamming to some good dog tunes.

Our front porch has been a refuge to many stray dogs & cats, all of which have been placed in good homes (except the two current black kitties – Keane & Quinn). Keane is now loveable & friendly, Quinn is still cautious. Keane likes to be brushed, have his belly rubbed and just general loving. He will bite on to your pant leg or wrap a paw around your ankle to keep you from going back inside. They are on a daily feeding schedule along with the occasional “lady” duck that has taken a liking to their food. And by the way, a Possum visits nightly to polish off the leftovers – he is so very messy!

When out of town traveling with work we call on our trusted friends at “Hug-A-Pet” to ensure everyone is properly looked after and snug as a bug. I seem to be the first one called or emailed when someone finds a lost pet or has a pet need. Reputation well earned I suppose since word quickly gets out when I have rescued a dog or dogs. Several of our friends threaten to show up on our porch so we will take them in & offer free room and board.

Spring time is always busy with the baby ducks running about & baby birds falling out of their nest & calling for their mum. One day a few months back I was pulling out of our driveway and there to my left was this lone baby duck squawking in running down the middle of the road. Knowing mommy duck wasn't far - I managed gather him up and my neighbor happened to locate the mom & family through his back yard near the water. So - we place him back with his family. Poor fella - got himself lost for a bit.

My husband just shakes his head. I suppose finally after 8 years together he hopefully accepts that this is just the girl he married.
