I visited Best Friends for the first time in January '09, and when I returned back to my hotel the first night, I received an email to sign up for the Best Friends Network. It was then that I discovered there was a way to volunteer after I got back home! After spending time on the network, I applied for and am now the Team Leader for the Washington community! I am very excited to work with all the amazing people that are already members of the community as well as recruit more people to join the team. We live in a state filled with animal lovers so I believe that if we spread the word, we’ll find a lot of people interested in getting involved. Also, I know there must be a lot of people here that have lots of great ideas and I’d love to hear them.I have lived in the Seattle area for most of my life and love it here. I own a pit bull and a pit/lab mix, so I know firsthand what a blessing it is to have a pit bull in your life. Unfortunately I also know the discrimination that pit owners face as well. I can’t stand how misinformed people are, and it is my mission to work to protect our dogs. The amount of BSL popping up not only around the state but around the country shows the urgency in educating not only the public but the people in legislation of the truth about Pit Bulls, Rottweiler and other targeted breeds.
