I am cat mom to 19 rescued strays, one rescued dog, and 2 parakeets....I guess that makes me a dog and bird mom too. Animals have always been a part of my life since I was a child and I will never turn my back on an animal in need.

I do what I can to help the feral colonies in my area as well as speaking out on my blog about the importance of spaying and neutering pets. There are so many issues that need to be put out there because beyond outright cruelty so much of what animals suffer at the hands of humans is based on pure human ignorance.

I would love to see a sanctuary in my area just like Best Friends. As it stands now my local shelter euthanizes because they don't have the space, especially when kitten season arrives. They'll even euthanize new kittens that come into the shelter. How sad is that? There is no place to take feral cats...they aren't given a chance to be worked with and socialized at the local shelter.

These animals shouldn't have to pay with their lives for being dealt a wrong hand in life, because when all is said and done it is humanity who is responsible for creating the overpopulation problem. Unfortunately humanity attempts to solve that problem by terminating innocent lives.
