Sweet and loving 'Monkey' survived an attack and 2 surgeries, with his big smile and loving heart intact...now he needs a home!
In today's world pit bulls are the single most maligned and abused group of dogs; Stories and pleas for them fill the world of cyperspace as valiant rescuers send out emails and calls, saving as many as they can.
Among the many sad and happy stories of these pit bulls - each a precious life with his or her own gifts to bring and own tale to tell -Monkey's story stands out and has caught the hearts of many.
For those who know of and are part of his story, Monkey is a hero. About 6 weeks ago, Monkey - then called Monk - was living in New York, NY, when someone broke into his person's apartment and began a vicious attack. According to Sheila Vayenas, one of those involved in his rescue, Monkey stepped in to shield and protect his person, and took the blows instead. Sheila states: "It's a miracle he lived; it's a miracle he survived 2 surgeries; it's a miracle he had no neurological damage; it's a miracle his personality has never changed."
Monkey is now recovering and safe in a temporary foster home. Sheila shared a report from his foster mom: Monkey lays on the bed and sleeps with his arms wrapped around her; he has absolutely no cat issues and actually loves cats and dogs.
Monkey is thought to be only about 1 year and 7 months old.
While his foster mom is giving him the best care in the world, she is not able to offer him a permanent home. That's why this plea is going out....Surely Someone can open their heart and home to this very special Pit Bull Angel.
