Donor Helps Welsh Corgi to Health, New Home
Rollie is an affable 6-year old, black, Welsh corgi who was rescued by the Los Angeles Animal Care's East Valley Animal Care Center.
Rollie was rescued with a broken front right leg while she was wandering the streets of Van Nuys. Despite her injuries, she is the sweetest, most gentle little girl who remained in good spirits throughout her entire hospitalization.
The East Valley medical staff arranged for radiographs and determined Rollie had a right radius-ulna fracture, and a compound fracture with exposed bone. The East Valley medical staff was able to treat her with antibiotics, pain medication, bandage changes, and a special diet. However, she needed expensive orthopedic surgery to be able to walk without problems.
That is when a STAR Angel appeared: Mary Preston from Hollywood. Mary saw Rollie's story on the STAR Program website and made a donation of $3,100 to the STAR (Special Treatment and Recovery) Program to pay for her surgery!
Soon after, Rollie's fracture was stabilized with a bone plate and screws and now she is on her way to a full recovery. She was adopted three days later.
Mary encourages others to donate to the STAR Program to help more dogs and cats like Rollie receive the surgery and treatment they need to live healthy, normal lives.
