The Louisiana Pet Evacuation Bill, SB 607, passed quietly and quickly through the state Senate Tuesday, with a unanimous vote of 36 to 0.
There was no floor debate on the bill, which will now go to the state House for approval. It has been referred to the House judiciary committee for consideration.
The bill will be presented to the judiciary committee by House sponsor Rep. Jack Smith, as well as by the original Senate sponsor, Sen. Heulette “Clo” Fontenot. The committee is scheduled to consider the measure on the morning of June 8, and supporters are urged to attend the hearing to keep the momentum rolling in favor of the measure.
