A coalition of animal lovers helps dog hit by car.
By Dori Gilbert, Best Friends NetworkGypsy was just living up to her name when she went wandering but unfortunately her tale took a turn for the worse when she was hit by a car. She ended up with two broken legs and an owner who couldn’t afford to pay for her treatment so he just left her at the vet’s office. German Shepherd Rescue of Las Vegas stepped up to help out this poor girl who was stranded at the vet’s and in extreme pain. They were able to obtain ownership of Gypsy and have her taken to a specialist to do her surgery.
To pay for her surgery, German Shepherd Rescue held a fundraiser and, along with the Vegas K9 Rescue group, put up pleas for donations on their websites. Vegas K9 Rescue is a coalition of smaller local rescue groups, like German Shepherd Rescue. To read more about Vegas K9 Rescue

On April 22nd, Gypsy had her surgery. Her legs were put back together with plates, screws, and rods. The vet was very pleased with the outcome of her surgery and after a short stay at the hospital she has moved on to a foster home. There she will spend her 2-4 months of recovery being pampered and loved.
Once she is fully healed she will be available for adoption and then, for this Gypsy, her wandering days will be over.
