OHIO: Reward for Lost Dog named Curly

April 21, 2008 : 2:38 AM
Curly, a beagle mix, went missing during a transport pit stop in Kirkersville, Ohio on the morning of April 18, 2008.

By Susan Meyer: Executive Director, KAT 5 Animal Rescue

“Curly is a very shy dog who has made amazing strides at Best Friends Animal Society in Utah. Curly was currently on her way to her new forever home in New York and somehow managed to get away from the transport team during a potty break. The transporter is beside herself, and knowing this woman, she will not leave Ohio without Curly”, Cathy LoBalbo said.

The transporter, Becky, is a volunteer for Pets Alive Animal Sanctuary in Middletown, New York. She had volunteered to transport Curly from Best Friends to her new home in New York because Curly was her favorite dog who she had cared for at Pets Alive. Curly went to Best Friends six months ago from Pets Alive.

Curly escaped near the Flying J Travel Plaza located at Exit 122 - East bound of I-70 in Kirkersville, Ohio. Curly has since been sighted several times a few miles from this location.

Don, a KAT 5 Animal Rescue volunteer, has been onsite trapping and searching for Curly alongside local volunteers from Second Chance Humane Society, Pets Alive volunteers who drove from New York and other local groups.

Fliers with Curly’s information have been distributed in the area. KAT 5 has contacted Cincinnati Pet Detective Jim Berns to possibly aid the search.

“There are enough volunteers tracking Curly at this time. More people may just scare Curly into running further away. It is important that no one tries to approach Curly”, Paula Evans of Second Chance Humane Society said. “They should call us immediately”.

Please call Paula Evans with any sightings or information on Curly:
