Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if this is a well kept secret, but Pepsi is giving away money every month and it seems every month cats keep getting pushed out of the "top 10". Right now there is a cause at #11 but they won't get a penny if they are not in the top 10!
Here is the link:

The idea for this link states:
"The MHAA Veterinary Care program will provide abused cats with needed vet care over the summer of 2010. Each week, we are contacted for help with companion animals in distress: malnourished, abandoned in decrepit and unsafe conditions, hit by vehicles and hurt through altercations with other wild animals or uncaring human beings. This program's funding will carry us through June, July and August of 2010 and provide for these emergency care needs as well as the testing, vaccinations, check-ups, medications and spay-neuter of these animals in need so that they can be brought back to health and offered the opportunity to find their new adoptive family while they wait in our no-kill, free-range and cageless sanctuary."

There is also a search option so if you put in a word, for example "cat", you get other worthwhile charities to choose from as you do get 10 votes a day!
Please consider voting every day to help cats!
Thanks for listening :)
Catmom, thank you for alerting us to this great site! What an easy way to help some very worthy organizations, especially cat rescues. Have recently joined Face Book and have posted and asked my “friends” to do the same. Bethö

This is an awesome program... a pat on the back to Pepsi. I have been voting daily. Here is another project that is all cat.... [It's currently #13 for $50K]
Help Us Open that door to Feline Heaven & stop cruelty & abandonment. | Pepsi Refresh Everything
Hopefully Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary will be among the contestants in the next contest. That is her intention.
Thanks for pointing out the # 11 option!
Good on ya, rcooperbaer! If u input "cats" into the searchbox on the Pepsi Refresh site, it will bring up groups that help cats only, as well as multi-animal groups. U can choose 10 every day! and u can also tweet ur choices on twitter. It's worth getting an account if u don't have 1.
Yep...that is another one I vote for daily!
I love Blind Cat Rescue! They recently won $20,000 on Facebook through a voting contest and came in #6 I believe!
Blind Cat is a fave of ours, too, catmominme. And yes, they did. We're so glad! We're a member on their FB page. Hope u r 2. HAGW!
Thanks for the advice jmuhj, I have been inputting "cats" and that really helps to narrow it down!
And I love Blind Cats Rescue too. We have a little blind cat, Memphis. She is a character. We all adore her. I have had cats all of my life and we have 8 indoors right now, but I was still nervous about raising a blind cat. I was afraid I would mess it up and she'd get hurt or worse. But Alana was there for us every step of the way. She was far more help than I could ever explain. Alana said that we wouldn't be able to tell that Memphis was blind once she adjusted to her surroundings... I didn't believe that for a minute, lol. We have three floors to our house w/all those stairs. But she can outrun any of us, she races through the house, never walks into anything, keeps up w/her siblings easily, climbs on EVERYTHING, lol... she is just amazing. I so appreciate Alana helping us to be able to not only save her [everyone wanted her to be euthanized], but to be able to enjoy the most amazing experiences w/her as well. I'd never have a single reservation about raising a blind cat now. I just wish I could convey that message to others who might be considering it.
Memphis is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for sharing her photo and story. I am constantly amazed and humbled by the ability of animals to overcome their various challenges and enjoy happy lives, of course with terrific folks like you to give them a chance at life. I adopted a stray, probably abandoned, very “mature” kitty with kidney problems. “Sam” suffered a major stroke and lost his sight, but even at an advanced age and with arthritis, he somehow managed to get around pretty well. He lived another two years, thanks largely to some great veterinary neurologists and ophthalmologists. Sam left very large paw prints on my heart, and I still miss him terribly. Bethö
How adorable Memphis is! TU for adopting her and ur entire feline family. That's what those "in the know" say about blind cats. We have never had one in r family, but love them, of course. Nine rescues here, and lifelong cat lovers/rescuers. All the best 2 u and special purrs 2 Memphis! <3
Thanks for all the kind words about Memphis. I really appreciate them. When we first brought her home I wouldn't let anyone see her because she looked like a little frankenstein w/the stitches and shaved areas and I wanted everyone to love her like we did. I wanted them to see her as a precious little soul like we did, not as a horror. I didn't want them to look at her w/pity and say yes, she should have been put down. But now she has grown her hair back and I'm proud to show her off when I get the chance.
It's amazing how resilient cats can be. Such as Sam. I know it had to be heartbreaking to lose him Beth, but you gave him extra quality years he might not have had otherwise. He was fortunate to have someone who obviously loved him so much. They do so leave a mark on your heart!
I told my husband the other day, I feel so sorry for people who do not have pets, cats in particular. They have no idea what they are missing. I cannot imagine how quiet and lonely a house w/out animals must be. I'm grateful he is understanding of my "have to save every single cat in the world" gene. He was not raised w/animals, esp in the house, so it's been an adjustment for him over the years, but fortunately for me and our furbabies, he's made some dramatic changes, lol.
