Featured Visitors: "I'm in this Book!"
Imagine your surprise to be looking through a book and unexpectedly finding a picture of yourself! That’s just what happened to Steve Plimmer, looking through Cathy Scott’s book, Pawprints of Katrina – Pets Saved and Lessons Learned, written about the animal rescues of Hurricane Katrina.

Steve and his wife Aimee had spent 10 days at Celebration Station – Best Friends second Hurricane Katrina rescue site which was located in New Orleans, Louisiana – doing everything they could to help the animals still being rescued. It was a far trip from their home in Ontario, Canada (where Aimee volunteers her time writing on the Best Friends Network for the Ontario community!).

Last summer, they made another long trip, their first visit to Best Friends Animal Society, in Kanab Utah. Looking through the Katrina book in the gift shop brought back a lot of memories – and was capped by Steve yelling to Aimee “I’m in this book!”.

In the photo Steve is pictured (photo by Clay Meyers) watching over 7 sleeping puppies, with a beautiful little dog in his lap. Upon enquiring about the dogs in the photo, Steve & Aimee confessed that the dog in his lap, Daisy, was going to be fostered by them, but was eventually adopted by them instead. The other seven went back to Canada with Steve and Aimee and were adopted out. The details of the transport is a secret – and Steve and Aimee are not sharing!

How COOL is that? It is very satisfying to do the hard work that goes with volunteering, at a place like Celebration Station, but it is also fun to see your face in a special place. Thanks for all you do for animals, Steve and Aimee!
