Featured Visitor: Brotherly Love
Not everyone would define brotherly love as having your brother in hysterics as he watches you fly through the air, land in the dirt, and be dragged through some bushes – all the while heroically hanging on to the leash of a dog who has seen a lizard; nor would the definition usually include having a brother take (and share!) photos of said incident.

Thankfully for Pete Lipke, his sister Cindy is a very warm hearted person, who was able to find the laughter in the situation as well (and still speaks to her brother!)
Pete & Cindy live in different suburbs of Atlanta, Cindy is a flight attendant with AirTran, and Pete is retired. Currently they share a dog, Lucky, who Pete found wandering in the woods of North Carolina when she was 4 or 5 months old. He brought her home for their mother, who, although she initially wanted a “BIG” dog, did fall in love with her. Sadly, their mother passed away a year later, so Lucky now has two homes. Pete says she has three, if you count doggy day care camp. (According to Pete, she also has a gang in his neighborhood which she calls her “Under the Drain” gang – they all have biker names and high signs.)

As with so many of the members of Best Friends, neither Pete nor Cindy can remember how they initially heard about Best Friends, but they were impressed with the work here, and with the magazine, and started to donate money. Their visit here in June was their first, but will definitely not be their last. They volunteered everywhere, from Puppy Class, Old Friends in Dog Town, Horses, Pigs, Bunnies, Feathered Friends, & special need Cats.
They’re planning a return visit this year, but I have a feeling that Cindy will be holding the camera this time!
