KC's New "Do"
KC is the ever popular cottage “sleepover” cat at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. She even has her own social calendar to keep track of the numerous requests she gets from cottage guests. Anyone who has met KC before may not recognize her now. She decided it was time for an “extreme makeover”. Her beautiful long coat was becoming quite matted, so a call went out to the Best Friends cat groomer. It was time for drastic measures – none other than a lion cut, complete with a puff ball on her tail! KC is quite proud of her new “do” and wants to point out that although the camera added some weight and it might appear that she has a bit of a belly….in reality, she’s really quite svelte.

Thanks for the update, Sue! KC is currently entertaining Network members utahiszion and lunapearl who are here for the week.

Hi Linda and LaVonne! Hope you're having a great week! Take good care of our girl, KC. We've got her reserved for later in the month. Next year we'll have to plan to overlap.

KC's cut doesn't look quite as dramatic as last year's do. She seems to have retained more fur on the front half of her body. We all know she'd be perfectly adorable without ANY fur, though. Linda, PUT . . . THE . . . RAZOR . . . DOWN, I was kidding!

First of all, I love KC's new "do". Is it possible to ever make her look bad? Don't think so. But I do think that the BF cat groomer is missing a HUGE opportunity to claim creative license in the world of cat grooming. This is definitely not a lion cut. I think you have created a new stylized version which you should call the "BuffaClip". Does this not look more like a Buffalo with that cute little shawl effect?

I think you're on to something here. It figures that a Southwestern version of a lion cut should look more like a buffalo.

Take good care of our girl, KC.

Well, they abandoned her for hours on Saturday to take care of me! We walked the whole length of town and back! (Luckily it's only about six blocks.) They treated me to a chillate at Laid Back Larry's and then dinner at Rewind!

Pace yourself, Joy. You've got a steady stream of visitors from now until the end of the month. As part of the final group, I think I can say that we want you to still be a teensy bit hungry and AWAKE when we get there!

I think Joy's thrown the glove down, Carrie. The race is on to see who can entertain Joy to the max! Maybe we'll have to take her textile shopping in St. George or there's a danger our little group could be outdone.

I think you are right Patty..that looks like a new type of "do"..and "BuffaClip" sounds like a perfect name! She does kinda resemble that buffalo do.
Very interesting haircut.. I think is all I can say ;)
But she is still a doll.

Is she still the only sleep-over cat?

Carrie and Pat, please remember that I have to do a nearly 800 mile road trip after four days with you!

You're not walking are you? That would indeed be worrisome. Not to worry (I've always loved that saying. Custer was the first to utter those words I believe). We will be mindful of your energy drain at all times while you are with us. I doubt Audrey's plaque affair will be too daunting, though sobbing can be rather dehydrating. And then all those calories to consume after. I can see how you could be concerned. Veggies are..... really...... heavy! Maybe we should skip them altogether and just go straight for dessert.

just go straight for dessert

That's always a good plan, especially at Rewind or the Rocking V!

I'm so glad that the cat groomer could save some of K.C.'s soft fur. His new "do" looks great. K.C. was entertaining us in cottage 2 when we noticed that there was a mass on his rump causing pain. Sure enough, a mass of mats. I hope you feel better now, K.C.

Can I enter the "entertain Joy" competition? Sounds like fun!

Thanks, Christine, but I'm calling off the contest. I don't want to end up back in the hospital! :-)

One of the downsides to staying in town this year instead of in the cottages is we'll miss KC sleeping with us.....She is such a cat ;)

Bogiedew, no doggie sleep overs?

haha... i love KC... and man, she look silly and cute with the new do. truth was, she only "tolerated" the brushing when i tried, when she slept over the cabin.... so i suppose it was a much needed grooming!
love you KC- miss you!!

pattycatty..I left 2 nites open for doggie sleepover (maybe 3, depending on what time we get there)..we are doing 2 days of sight-seeing, so we cant have a dog those 2 nites..and for some reason my husband would prefer a cat..I have no idea why!!

K.C. has a color-coordinated bed to go with her new "do":

You're a beauty, KC, with or without a new "do", and who would have dreamed you would cause so much conversation? I'm impressed!

What a stunning girl! If she's this beautiful without half of her coat, I bet she's a beauty queen when fully clad. That face! And those eyes! And I love her little lion tail. I wonder if she ever chases it. I've had cats that chase their tail, but never did they have an opportunity for such a great catch! Give her tons of love & kisses. Actually, I've had to occasionally consider getting a coif for my Star. She gets so matted sometimes that I feel like I'll never get them all out. But she has slowly grown generous enough to let me "steal" little tufts of hair (her mats) now and then, so until now, we've only had to have her furry little "harem pants" (that's what we call her rear end and thighs because they look just like that - or maybe Hammer's famous pants, except softer,) sheared a little. I could be imagining it, but I actually think that she kind of likes it. Her skin matches all of the shades and patches of color of her fur, so she still has an interesting "outfit" with or without the overcoat. Boy would I like to cuddle with KC, though. How can you resist?

She sure is a cutie!

Last October, we had a double sleepover in the cottages with K.C. and Miss Bigglesworth. It was the only time we would have the honor of having Miss B over, because the next day, she was going to her new forever home. That night, Miss B was a love bug, but K.C. kept her distance and preferred to just "look beautiful" all the time. Well, a few days later, we decided to have K.C. on a sleepover, and wow, what a change! Now that K.C. had us all to herself, she was playful and quite affectionate. We enjoyed her very much and hope to have her over again this October!
