July 18th is National (Veggie) Hot Dog Day!
Join others across the country giving away veggie hot dogs and compassionate food choice education
Wednesday, July 18, 2007, has been declared National Hot Dog Day by the
National Hot Dog and Sausage Council—
it also happens to be National (Veggie) Hot Dog Day, as declared by Compassion Over Killing! During July, while our nation celebrates its independence, your help is needed to expose the miseries forced upon tens of millions of pigs confined inside factory farms across the U.S. each year—from mother pigs crammed in narrow metal crates for months on end to their piglets who are taken away within weeks of birth and kept in barren, overcrowded pens until they are shipped to slaughter.
Host a National (Veggie) Hot Dog Day Event
See: Compassion Over Killing Hot Dog Day How to Organize a Veggie Dog Feed-In: One of the best ways to encourage vegetarian eating is to pass out free samples of delicious meat-free foods. The COK step by step how-to guide demonstrates how easy it is to host a successful veggie dog feed-in.
If you plan on hosting an event any time during the month of July,
register with Compassion Over Killing. They’ll be happy to answer your questions about organizing a feed-in as well as send you free pro-vegetarian literature for you to distribute!
Distribute Pro-Vegetarian Materials Whether or not you’re planning to host a feed-in, you can help spread the animals’ message by distributing COK’s new flyer (
view PDF) exposing the horrors on today’s pig farms. Grab a friend and leaflet for thirty minutes or an hour—every little bit you can do to get the message out there makes a big difference for animals. View their
