Mabel always makes me smile, Nancy. Her story reminds me of the "Happily every after" stories on the last page of the Best Friends Magazine. It's hard to equate today's Mabel with the first photo I saw of her, scared at being on grass for what may have been the first time in her life and so very confused.

She's the poster girl for puppy mill victims everywhere, and an inspiration for everyone. She's also pretty darned cute. :-)

When I came to BF today I saw that sweet little face again. What a pleasure & blogs too.

I fell in love with her the first time I saw her. Living the life she lived & getting to start over is what you want for all of the animals. Such a survivor too.

No wonder the world loves Mabel.How did it make you feel?

Better be careful. Pat will start stalking you around the Network making accusations of cruelty to Peeps. Like letting them dehydrate on a counter isn't cruel. :-)

Norman has asked me for your address, Pat. I think he wants to pay a visit to the poor Halloween Peeps who are doubtless dehydrating on your counter as I type. He wants to borrow my camera to record the visit.

I don't have the Critter Credits. You trapped them all a couple of years ago, remember? They are probably also drying on the counter if I know you.

Don't let her fool you, Kitties4. She's probably the one who took all the alerts and has stashed them with all the Critter Credits. Ya ever wonder why Marion always seems to know everything? Wouldn't you if you controlled all the alerts? And I bet she has a Bic lighter close by to turn those remaining chocolate Peeps into hot chocolate.

1. The e-mail alerts are currently hiding and tech support is looking for them. Alerts, as you know, are adept at hiding, but the latest rumor is that they will be back at work soon. You can keep up on the Network glitches by reading the forum in the Network Support Group, which resides under the "Help" link right above the banner on the far right of the page.

In the meantime you can find current activity in any of your groups in your profile under the "groups" tab.

2. Norman had nothing at all to do with the missing chocolate Peep, nor the missing head on the oone remaining. It's obvious there is a chocoholic in the house. I decline to name names.

3. It's "Tribbles."

I take it you aren't a Trekkie, or you would know what they are. This might help: The Trouble With Tribbles. They aren't deliberately dangerous to humans, in fact they are quite affectionate and cuddly, but in space they can be a bit of a problem as you'll see from the link. Since Peeps are, technically, food in most of the world, it's probably best if they stay at least a galaxy away from all Tribbles.

4. Please keep a tissue handy. It's very difficult to clean the screen inside the monitor.

5.For the record the chocolate Peeps have a hint of chocolate flavoring, but that soon fades and leaves one with a mouthful of marshmallow, just like all of the other Peeps.

Excuse me for the delay in commenting on your post. If I had received an alert I would have known you had posted and would certainly have rushed to see what plot you are involved in. However, enough complaining. Whadda ya mean "oops"? Wha hoppen to the other chocolate Peep or shouldn't I ask? And don't tell me Norman had anything to do with its disappearance.

By the way, now that I am here. I noticed you mentioned "Tribles" in a reply to PattyCatty ( for which I also did not receive an alert). Just what are Tribles and are they dangerous to us Peep people? How do we deal with them? Are they responsible for missing alerts?

The kitten spent the night pressed up against the sliding glass door, and Zy kept her company from the inside. I was going to take it some food but as soon as it saw me this morning, it was ready to bolt and was gone over the wall by the time I undid the second latch :(

Next step is to borrow a trap and see if we can get it.

Indeed we do, Kathleen. In my case it was the All Pets to Heaven board on Prodigy back in the Dark Ages before very few people, aside from the military and Universities, had Internet access. There was only one ISP in the Salt Lake area then, if you can believe it. When I finally did venture onto the Net at the urging of one of my Prodigy friends I kept a cheat sheet by my desk with all the /s (save) type of gibberish I needed to get around. Those were interesting times for sure. :-)

I hear you, Kay. We don't have Coyotes (thank goodness), but there's a lot of heavy traffic in our area and few of the drivers are able to read the speed limit signs, and still some of the neighbors have indoor/outdoor cats. It makes me sad.

Sometimes so frustrating!

Got up at 4:30 this morning to feed Zoso, and Jaz was making "cat" noises at the kitchen window.

So I went a looked, and low and behold there is a grey kitten peeking in.

It ran off when hubby opened the door to scoop it up and bring it in.

I am assuming it is someones pet and that just makes me crazy they let it out when everyone in my area know we have Coyotes. A 6 month kitten is no match.

Sorry for the confusion, Kathleen. It really isn't very obvious at that size.

The icon photo is one I put together years ago when I was playing around with graphics. When I started the PHS Community on the old Network a few years ago I needed an icon that wouldn't run afoul of Copyright law, so I used that image, a combination of two photos I'd taken myself.

The foreground is a bud on our Apple Tree (which has since moved on to tree heaven), and the ghostly image in the background to the right is our Litte Guy, the dog who was the catalyst that led me to the message board on Prodigy where I found Rainbow Bridge, and the amazing world of pet loss support online.

Do you think I should change it? If so, I'd welcome suggestions. :-)

Okay. The content of the PHS icon is probably obvious to everyone but me. I just can't figure out what is in it. I've tried putting a magnifying glass in front of my reading glasses (which are 2.5 strength so you can tell how bad my near vision is) but that hasn't helped. I thought if I saved it on my computer and then viewed it, it would be bigger, but it wasn't. I couldn't figure out how to make it bigger in the forum either.

I admit to having trouble with identifying picture content. I think my brain doesn't process images in the usual way so I sometimes interpret pictures in a confusing way. Then once someone tells me what it is it becomes obvious. Captions also help so I know what I should see.

Could someone please enlighten me? i'm sure it will become obvious. I know there are more important issues to worry about but this one has me distracted.

Gee, I'd forgotten about Free Cell. I played a game or two yesterday and lost miserably, as usual. :-) Spider is much kinder to me. Playing solitaire really is a good way to get used to the mouse. I learned to use a computer on an old DOS machine so the mouse was new to me too when I first met Windows and a bit of a pain to use, but once I learned it was a toy rather than a tool I stopped being afraid of it. :-) Still prefer using the keyboard for most things, though.

I cut my teeth on Freecell & Spider Solitare. The 1st time I picked up a mouse(pc kind) it went everywhere except where I wanted it to. Someone told me to play games to get used to using it & I have been a game player ever since. Always before bed because it is so relaxing.

Thank you for your concern about our welfare. Please be assured that all of the Hale Peeps are busy at their jobs hence unable to spend much time online. There is still some lingering bitterness among the crew over Mr. Peep's insistance that his self-created look may not be copied, but everyone is trying to put that behind them in the interests of harmony in the work place.

While it's true that the Snowman Peeps attempted to organize a union they gave that up when I stepped in and made them a contract offer based on that recently offered to the UAW.

Mr. Peep and I are happy to know that we and our associates have not been forgotten.
