Aggression Specialist Jim Crosby Takes Home Winston!
Dogs saved from Katrina have gone to rescues and organizations all over the country. As the dogs settle into their new digs and begin to regain their health, their behavior and temperament begin to emerge. Some dogs that seemed too timid to be placed have become out-going clowns; while others that seemed aggressive are sweet pussycats. As their personalities begin to rise to the surface, it has become more apparent which dogs need to go into one on one foster/training situations.
11th Hour Rescue in NJ had taken in quite a few Katrina dogs thru Best Friends rescue efforts and there are a number of them there now that need to be placed thru the Training Partners Program. Sherry Woodard went out there last week to assess the dogs and ask if any of the trainers in the program could meet her there to pick out a dog for rehabilitation.
We called Jim Crosby, an aggression expert from Jacksonville, FL on a Wednesday to see what he was doing on Friday, he said "what's up?", we told him about the plight of the rescued dogs in NJ and how Sherry would only be at the rescue for a short time. He said "I'm packing now" (we love this guy!), and headed the 1,000 miles up the coast to pick out a "problem" dog with the help of Sherry and Dr. Dashfield of 11th Hour. His precious cargo going home was a one Pit Bull with a thick neck and huge head - Winston. He was thought to be "difficult" but the reports we're getting from Jim are quite the contrary! Jim sent us one image of Winston eating out of his dish, while a young Curly-Coated Retriever sat inches from his ferocious looking jowls. Was it smoke and mirrors? No way, under Jim's watchful guidance Winston will be on his way to his forever home in no time! We'll be keeping you updated right here!
