My 2 year old lab/goldie mix licks our rugs. He has plenty of toys to play with and chew. He loves to lick the rugs to the point of creating a hole in the rug. He'll either be chewing a toy and start licking the rug or he'll just start licking the rug. I have had to cover the rugs with sheets to prevent the damage he does to the carpet. The apple spray has not worked at all. I've cleaned the rugs. Is there anything that I can do to stop this behavior of excessive licking from continuing? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'm sorry your dog is creating such a problem with your rug. Unfortunately, you've posted in a forum that helps members with their posting issues on the Network. So perhaps I can give you some "virtual" advice? Here are the links to two forums that may be able to help. One addresses canine and feline medical issues ( and this could be a problem stemming from some sort of physical imbalance) and the other is for behavioral issues. Both forums are monitored by Veterinarians with active practices, so it may take a couple of days before they post a reply.
