I just tried posting to here but the site is running slowly and I received a time out error message. Here's my message retyped:
Congratulations on getting the new site up! Here are a few issues that I came across:
I didn't see any direct link to this group or this forum, so I'm not sure other members will find this to post their questions.
The direct URL http://network.bestfriends.org/techcentral brought me to an error (no page found).
I have 0 friends in my profile.
Site is running slowly.
The site looks great - very exciting!
Also, all photos from my profile have disappeared.

Is this Beth M? If so, do you know if you had your profile set as not viewable on the old Network? For folks who just signed up for the Intranet and did not create a public Network profile, we did not migrate their data.
We didn't have Friends in the old Network before. Just Favorites. Those are apples to oranges. With Favorites, people did not have to to accept a request to be someone's Favorites. Since Friends creates a networking relationship, we did not assume that folks would want to be eachother's Friends. Does that make sense?
Tech Central is the Help link at the very top in the grey navigation bar.
Slowless is a definite concern. We are checking on it right now!

Thanks Anna for the quick reply! Yep, it makes sense that our Favorite people didn't migrate since that's much different than Friends on this Network!
And yep, my profile was private previously, so I can see why it didn't transfer over :)
New issue ... when I click "See all" Groups in my dashboard, it opens a window saying "Coming Soon"
I can't figure out how to choose a news story to be my primary or secondary news stories?

Yea - See All Groups will be up soon. It's a new page we had to create and didn't have time to sneak it in. CS actually doesn't allow Groups to become friends to people and other groups. So we had to make our own version. Crazy eh? Look for it in a few days.
For the news - go to a Group you are the owner for. Do you see a little black box with a red x in it? In the upper right hand corner? Click on it and the news titles for your top five stories will be there for you to choose from. What's the name of the Group you are looking at?? You can look for the Edit a Group and Create a Group instructions in the Resources section of Help too. Joy did a great job with the help files!

Okay. A few questions. A friend is missing her blog. I am assuming they are migrating over, but will take some time. I found it, but it says something like "resource not available."
Are we able to post photos in the titles to the forums? Right now I am just seeing my avatar and no option for adding a photo to the title. Previously, we had a forum post for each dog, with its photo. The photo next to the title helped greatly in having people the posts for dog with names such as "Goober" and "Screech." If that isn't an option, I'll rearrange and be creative.
Also, I can't seem to link the "adoptable pets" from petfinder, to feature. I know where the x is, I know the codes and the links, I just can't get it to work.
And...at the demo, Isabelle showed me the coolest thing, and now I can't find it. The feature where you ask a question, then get responses that can be tallied, like a poll or a contest.

discovered a relatively quick way to find friends. go to one of your favorite groups (fredonia humane for me) and you're bound to find lots of like-minded souls. after you invite one, just hit your browser's back button and choose the next person from the fan list. seems to save time.
Hi, Joy. Congratulations on the new network rollout.
Looks like it'll be good. Right now, it's mysterious to me, but so was every other social networking site I've joined. It just takes time to get on to it. I may never completely get it, but I'll keep plugging away at it and see what happens.
Hope things go well, and compliments to you and all the Best Friends staff who I KNOW have been working hard to get this going.

Glad we can now post our questions here. It was a frustrating experience last night, but that's to be expected when trying out something new. My biggest concern right now is that my blog doesn't seem to have made it over. I spent a lot of time on that blog and have it linked everywhere for people to read. People were still commenting on it even though it was created in September. It's titled My Journey to Best Friends. Is it possible to get it back?
Another question I had is how to send email and how to get help (other than this message board. Although maybe this is where we'll always go?). I see how to send email if you're friends with someone, but what if you want to send someone an email you are not friends with?

Beautiful new web site but will take a lot of getting used to. Can't figure out how to email favorite friends, and my list did not populate. Do we have a "set of instructions" anywhere?

After the initial panic, I'm feeling a little better about the new network..... main concern is the blogs - they are so hard to find! Still trying to navigate through. Thank goodness I found the old "tech central"!!!
Where do I find the forums? I don't see any buttons or links. Are they "coming soon" or am I just not seeing the obvious?
Otherwise, the new look is nice.
