New Universal City Animal Shelter Celebrates Grand Opening
Fantastic new facility features many adoptable cats and dogs.
Great news for the cats and dogs of Universal City, located about 20 miles northeast of San Antonio, as they recently celebrated the grand opening of the new Universal City Animal Shelter.
Having been in the planning stages for the last three years, they celebrated their ribbon cutting on Friday, August 22. Numerous local dignitaries and animal welfare organization representatives, including the shelter’s non-profit partner,
Homes for the Homeless, were on hand to join in the festivities.

Their hope is that the new 7,000 square foot facility, now situated in a higher traffic location, which will result in increased adoptions.
Randy Luensmann, Director of Public Works, is excited about their new site and “welcomes everyone to come and take a tour of the facility and see the animals.”
A word of warning though -
it is highly possible you will fall in love!
The shelter’s adoption hours are:
Monday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

•
Volunteers are needed in many areas including:
