Cyrus Mejia: The 575 Project, Art For The Animals
Book Review by Christy Crabtree

As one of the founders of Best Friends Animal Society, Cyrus Mejia has a special and spiritual connection to the animals. His talent is touching today's and future generations of people who come to find out about the plight of the homeless animals through his beautiful art.

Mejia has created a meaningful collection of artwork in memorial to the companion animals who have died in vain in shelters. The number 575 in the 575 Project comes from the number of animals who die in shelters every hour each year.

Using objects collected from shelters, the touching displays of artwork are incredible masterpieces that will inspire readers to join the movement and stop the senseless killings.

The art portrayed is collected from shelters and include dog collars, rabies tags, pet food cans, and cage ID cards. The artwork is compelling and will inspire you to become involved to help the precious animals.

All of Mejia's artwork over the years has shown an ethereal and spiritual feel to it. Mejia has stated that when he arrived in southern Utah he was amazed by the light, and you certainly receive that as you view his absolutely beautiful and mystical work.

Included in this book are an interview with the artist, a biography and an artist statement. All profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society.
